Have you ever wondered why trick or treating exists, and where it originated from? Well, during the ninth century, in Ireland, people got involved in a tradition called ‘guising’, which was an event to get dressed up in costumes and accept offerings from households they would visit. The children would sing a song, tell a joke, or perform a form of a ‘trick’ in exchange for gifts.
The trick or treat tradition then evolved in the United States back in the 1920s. Children were handed lots of gifts to them, such as nuts, coins, toys, and handmade cakes. As trick or treating became more widespread across America, in the 1950s candy manufacturers realised the opportunities and began to promote their products for Halloween. Trick or treating became popular and sweets or candy (as it's known in the USA) became a bigger offering. Halloween is still a tradition in which we like to show off frightening, gruesome costumes, and collect lots of delicious treats!

Our sweet-toothed company, Choc on Choc has reached its 16th birthday, and over the years we have seen it rise like a perfectly proved loaf. So, we thought that it would be fitting that our celebrations included a CAKE-OFF!
Our charming challenge saw the staff of Choc on Choc decorate a cake for our super sweet 16! That’s right, today we have fought through piping, perspiration, and soggy-bottoms!
Every year, September welcomes Choc on Choc’s birthday and this year is our 16th, so we’ve decided to go all out on our celebrations. As our cake off is one of our last celebrations this year we really have gone for it! If you head over to the highlight section in our stories, you can see for yourself!
Luckily, our factory has three main rooms so to decide on teams, we kept it simple and split us all into the three different rooms, office, packing and making teams. Each team was then given a three-tiered cake and the only rules to ad
Have you got a special occasion coming up? Well, forget your standard cake or present! The new way to celebrate is to get your hands on one of our “smash-boxes”. For our sweet 16th birthday we have created some GIANT custard creams in the form of a smash-box!
So, what is a smash-box I hear you say? A smash box is a large chocolate structure that has lots of goodies inside! For our sweet 16th birthday we decided to make our smash boxes in the form of a giant custard cream, so essentially you have to ‘smash’ the giant custard cream to get into the goodies in the center. A little wooden mallet comes with it, to make sure you get the correct smash effect! Smash away to reveal a sumptuous amount of sweets and let’s just say that grace and cleanliness is not what a smash-box is about.
A Smash-box really is a creative way of showing a special person how loved they are, as this three-dimensional edible and hollow custard cream contains a whole h

Everyone who remembers his or her own education remembers teachers, not methods and techniques. The teacher is the heart of the educational system.
Every single day in classrooms across the world, thousands of motivated teachers work long hours educating their students, marking homework, preparing lesson plans, leasing with families and co-workers overcoming any obstacles they may face. The work that teachers put in is essential for not only children, but their future, the parents and the community in general. Nevertheless, the rarity of thanks that teachers receive is concerning. That’s why here at Choc on Choc, we wanted to change that so, we’ve designed a line of thank you gifts for our wonderful teachers.
Teachers are often role models, friends and sometimes saviours for our children! Teachers inspire students to have a lifetime thirst for knowledge, they share their values and compassion, demonstrate hard work and the importance of commitment. These are priceless les
As teenage tennis sensation Cori Gauff otherwise known as ‘Coco’ continues to stun the audiences of the world and as a company predominantly operated by female’s we thought that here at Choc on Choc we would focus on some of the important roles and achievements that female tennis players have had throughout the history of Wimbledon.
So, where’s better to start than the beginning, the opening of the prestigious tournament known as Wimbledon started in 1877, however this only included men’s singles tournaments. It wasn’t until 1884 (a whopping 7 whole years later) that ladies’ singles were included into the tournament and then it took another 29 years for the tournament to include ladies’ doubles and mixed doubles in 1913!
Once the ladies did get the chance to compete in 1884, the first ever winner of ladies’ singles was Maud Edith Eleanor, at the very young age of 19. Her win came only 3 years into her career of competitive tennis! Impressive!
